Lazy Summer Days

Published by winsor1973 at 11:16 am under Random Happenstance Edit This

I remember how much I looked forward to summer when I was in grade school! No getting up early for the bus. No homework. No long ride home on the bus after school.

I was so glad when summer finally arrived this year.  I thought, we’ll have some time to kick back and relax.  School will be out. No more trying to squeeze one more teachable moment into my hectic day. No more worrying about what learning objectives we covered or what have we forgotten to cover this school year?  Yeah, we can enjoy some warm weather, go swimming, enjoy the local parks, and whatever else we can think of.

I don’t know what I was smoking that day, but I don’t think I should share any!  I am working full-time, volunteering at church, and working in the garden. The house is still being very needy.  This weekend we had to repair the roof - we still have two more sections to work on yet. We have a Royal Ranger campout this weekend and a shooting meet to finish planning.  The kids want to go swimming today. In the next fourteen days, my kids all have birthdays.  The week after that, my daughter is having a slumber party.  We haven’t been to the park in two weeks.  My garden is undergoing a hostile takeover by striped cucumber beetles and stinkbugs.  The family dog has a rash or something and needs a good haircut.  The cat had kittens but isn’t making milk. . .  What was I talking about again?

Anyways. . .  summer is almost over.  That’s good, because I am exhausted! So who’s ready for the lazy days of a nice crisp autumn?!
