Hangovers and . . .
I am the life of the party, complete with the hangover after. I know what you’re thinking but it is not nearly as much fun as it sounds. Most of the parties are populated by my kids and their elementary school-aged cohorts. I get to be the lifeline for the party - buy the snacks, transport the kids and their friends, chaperone the get-togethers. Like I said, life of the party. The only hangovers around here are the post-migraine ones.
After a migraine, I usually feel like I have been on a week-long binge. Only difference is I can still remember what has happened and I don’t usually end up with a new tattoo or some guy’s phone number. See, I told you it wasn’t really much fun.
Migraines can buy me some time in bed, maybe even convince my family to quiet down for a few hours. But it is like robbing Peter to pay Paul in order to balance my monthly budget. In the end, I didn’t really GET anything. Tonight, my migraine cost me a few hours pay since I had to leave work early. I slept, but it wasn’t a restful sleep. And even though I was at home, I didn’t gain any extra time with my family.
It’s nearly bedtime, so hopefully my migraine hangover will have disappeared in time for me to be the life of the party for my family tomorrow.
